This Privacy Policy explains how WhapeX ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects personal data when merchants use our platform, including our integration with Shopify.
1. What data we collect
When a merchant connects their Shopify store to WhapeX, we process the minimum customer data required to provide our service, including:
- Customer name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Order and cart contents (products, quantities, prices)
2. Why we collect it
We use this data exclusively to:
- Display the merchant's orders and abandoned carts inside their WhapeX dashboard
- Enable the merchant to send WhatsApp messages to their own customers (such as cart recovery reminders or order updates)
- Match Shopify orders to existing WhatsApp conversations, so the merchant's team has full context when replying to customers
3. Data we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or share customer data with third parties
- We do not use customer data for advertising unrelated to the merchant's own store
- We do not use customer data for automated decisions that have legal or significant effects on the customer
4. How we protect data
- All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
- Access tokens and sensitive credentials are encrypted before storage
- Access to customer data is limited to the merchant's own authorized team members, and is strictly isolated between different merchants (tenants)
- We keep a record of system access and activity for security monitoring
5. Data retention
We retain customer data only for as long as necessary to provide our service to the merchant. Merchants can request deletion of their data, including any synced Shopify data, at any time by contacting us.
6. Merchant responsibility
The merchant (Shopify store owner) is responsible for obtaining any necessary consent from their own customers regarding data processing, in accordance with applicable laws in their jurisdiction.
